I'm not someone who wears much makeup, and I certainly don't have much useful experience applying it. I prefer light, neutral shadows, but even so, this compact takes light and neutral to the extreme. These colors are so minimally different that you can't build much definition without introducing other colors from a different set. I don't feel like the shadow stands up all day either, whereas neutrals from other sets seem to have longer wear times.

I ordered Covergirl's Urban Basics eye shadow because I wanted some light purpleish colors. The eye shadow that showed up is named Urban Basics, but there is not a single purpleish color in the kit. It comes with a white-ish color, light sparkly tan, goldish brown, and gray. I'm pretty disappointed. It's confusing because they do not provide the color number in the product description. I would have sent it back to get the color I wanted, but I can't find the color number anywhere in the product description.

I have this and Covergirl's Shimmering Sands trio. I bought Tapestry Taupe because it was supposed to be a dupe for a MAC Satin Taupe. It is a nice color--a neutral medium brownish tone that goes with anything--but I only rarely wear a single shade and I find myself reaching for the trio more often because it is easier and simplifies my morning routine. The quality of the shadow is very good and I have recently become a Covergirl convert after years of high-end brands. All of the CG shadows I have tried are good quality with good pigmentation. They blend well, too. They are not quite as silky as my Urban Decay shadows but they are much easier to layer and blend, which is important because I can get a more subtle look for work.UPDATE: After writing my review yesterday, I decided to try using this eye shadow this morning again. The color really is extraordinary. A taupe with subtle gold flecks and shimmer. It is hard to describe because it seems to have grayish or silver undertones, too. And it is a perfect medium color, which seems hard to find (most colors seem to be dark or light). The color is very neutral--not to warm or too cool. It also lasts really well: it stayed on all day with my Urban Decay Primer Potion. There is some fallout if you try to put too much onto the brush. All in all, I like it better than the light taupe color in Shimmering Sands.

In my on the go bag, I like to have trusted easy and fast to use basics. These Covergirl eye enhancer singles fit that criteria very nicely at a value price point.I have three shades, but have mostly abandoned one of them.Bedazzled Biscotti - is the perfect neutral shimmer. However, it is dryer and flakes, which still arent the reason I don't reach for this one anymore, but it has a high volume of silver glitter. It will fall under your eyes. In some cases, that under eye glitter can be pretty, but most days for me no.Tapestry Taupe - Perfection. This is a brown-grey shimmer, which shifts a bit according to what I'm wearing. Super versatile, perfect mid-pigmentation. I can layer this on, and it's the perfect fast pulled together eye look.Champagne - A nice vanilla shimmer, it is great as a brow bone highlighter, inner eye, or a quick all over color.Highly recommend these as a quick, inexpensive, tried and trusted eye shadow option!

I ordered two of these as add onâs and both were crumbed and old looking. Iâm taking it off my list. I would blame the packaging but all other eyeshadow Iâve ordered has come to me intact

Colors are gorgeous- the lightest being a perfect taupe. However I wish they were matte rather than shimmer, and they arenât all that deeply pigmented. It takes more effort to get the shading the depth I like. But still, for the price, itâs a terrific value.

I have used a number of different shades of this brand for many years. This color " Champagne" is okay but a little too shimmery. The price is right and the product is okay.The reason for my 1 star review is because of Amazon's really poor packaging. I had ordered 2 of this color and they were dropped into the box along with other purchases. As to be expected they rattled around during shipping and 1 arrived with the powder literally crushed. The 2nd pkg. was intact.I had also ordered 2 other eyeshadows of another color, same brand. They were shipped in individual bubble wrap sleeves. They arrived intact.This isn't rocket science. Someone needed to go a small extra step and put the first 2 compacts in bubble wrap sleeves as well.

I love this color. It's the only shadow I'm currently wearing. I'm 60 and preferences a neutral palette. I mostly all I wear for makeup is this shadow, a bit of liner, and mascara. Boom, out the door. Lipstick or gloss if I'm feeling it. Actual foundation and blush for special occasions.This goes on smooth and is long wearing. Doesn't irritate. Great at covering my lids which tend to be on the pink/red side.

Beautiful taupe shade with a nice shimmer. The shade is very natural looking. Almost a nude but for someone a bit darker than me. Goes on very well over my primer. Stayed on and still looked pretty after hours of Thankgiving fun (cooking, hugs from friends and family, licks from the family dogs freaking over company, etc.) It certainly earned a thumbs up for looking so good after a hectic day.I smudged a little of this shade into my covergirl Perfect Blend smoked taupe eyeliner. The lighter shimmery shadow blended into the outer corners (upper & lower) does nicely to highlight the eye area. The colors blend so perfectly together. Using the blending end of the liner got it ever so perfect.

It feels like powder which is going everywhere.. when you will put brush on it its just making powder clogs and not showing any color on my eyelid just shimmering
