Neophyte... A person who is new to a skill or subject. When it comes to purses, bags, totes and whatever else they call handbags I really don't know a lot about this stuff. However, my wife does. Remember in Jr. High school when they separated the boys from the girls for some classes? Did they learn about bags, totes, purses, handbags, pocketbooks and pouches?Even without specific training in the field, one can tell the VB tote is well made. There are a lot of knock-offs on the market but upon close examination it's evident that the zippers, thread, seams and fabrics are not the same between the inexpensive lookalikes and the real thing. My wife has expensive bags that are almost 30 years old- so buy quality and enjoy it for a long time.This particular bag/tote whatever is part of a series of similarly styled products. Lots of pockets and compartments make it easier for my wife to organize her stuff... and she appreciates it. Gift a person in your life a Vera Bradley bag and it will be appreciated a lot. Very giftable! Beautiful and Functional

This bag is the perfect balance of form and function. It has head-turning style in a fabric that won't cause you to panic if it gets wet or dirty. The fabric kind of has a quilted texture. It really adds to the luxurious look. The interior is just as stylish as the exterior. The size is large enough for a tablet or a few books. It's an ideal travel or work bag. The quality is up to my snobbish fashionista standards. It makes a thoughtful birthday or "Just Because" gift. I HIGHLY recommend this bag.Thanks so much for taking the time to read this review. Sturdy, well-made tote with great storage potential

I was very excited to get this tote! I ordered to replace an old "Healthy Back" tote (AmeriBag brand) that I never really liked but that I use when travelling. I haven't had a chance to try this bag for travel yet (it's March 2020, in the midst of the coronavirus crisis, so no one is traveling much right now, haha), but I can't wait to do so and will update then.This is from Vera Bradley's "performance twill" line. The quilted fabric seems extremely sturdy and very easy to clean. Like all VB products, the bag is very high quality and well made. I'm going to go through all of the available pockets and compartments:* On the front outside, a small zip compartment. This is probably not large enough for most smart phones (although it fits both my flip phone and my ipod!), but it would work well for keys, change, etc.*On the front outside above the zip, a large slip compartment. This is probably where most will stash their phones; it could work for something like a passport too, but it isn't secured closed.*On the back outside, there are no pockets. However, at the top of the back edge (along the seam, between where the handles attach), there is a "hidden" slip pocket that is about the same size as the one on the front of the bag.*On the inside "front" (same side as the outside zip compartment), there are three slip compartments, one larger in the middle and two smaller on either side.*On the opposite inside (or the "back"), there are three similar slip compartments, although these seem slightly shallower than the ones on the opposite side.Other details: the top zips completely closed, and there are two handles long enough to use this as a shoulder bag. The lining on the inside is a pretty small floral with white, gray, red, and pink; the lighter colors make it easier to see the contents on the inside. Overall, this is a stylish, versatile tote bag, and I know I will get a lot of use from it.

This is a very durable tote. One that is made to last. It is water repellant, it is light weight. Even with being all this it is very functional and stylish. It cleans easy. It is perfect size for holding everything you might need from work day to school meeting or night out. The strap is the right length for shoulder and gives a secure fit to your body. You have a zippered outside pocket and open pocket on one side. On top next to the zipper to the main compartment on the opposite side you have a kind of hidden compartment that is quite deep. In the zippered main compartment you have two pockets on both sides and a sizeable open compartment. All the pockets and compartments have a nice floral material, that is easy to wipe clean. All hardware is a lightweight sturdy silver with black heavy ribbon pull. All the quilting and stitching is expertly done. And of course at the bottom front of this lovely tote is the name engraved on a black metal plate. Lovely gift for anyone or mother's day, or yourself. I hope this has helped. Thank You
