Fit the need

These are not professional-grade shoes, but they work fine for short-term, cost less than buying even at Payless, and shipping was fantastic. I will not buy dance/acting clothing through a dance shop again, unless I need frills and glitter. My daughters (13 and 7) were in a 6-week theatre camp that included 4 different modes of dance, acting, and a final musical performance on stage. I purchased all equipment they needed for the program through Amazon. We started at a dance shop - prices were very high, then we went to Payless who didn't have sizes for my older daughter. From Payless I searched on Amazon and found the same shoes and many more options, at reasonable prices...some even less than Payless. Once I had the correct shoe size, I ordered through Amazon.Im rating these shoes a 3 because the insert is cardboard, not fabric, and it is glued to the bottom of the shoe. By the end of the 6 weeks, inserts on both pair were slipping out and what is underneath is ugly and uncomfortable to wear. My 13-year old threw hers away. The shoes were slightly big for my 7-year old, but easily adjusted by tightening the string.I also learned that the jazz shoe is actually preferred by most theatre-based dancers. It is more durable, and versatile. I ordered those and tap shoes through Amazon as well.

I wear a women's 11, sometimes even 11.5 in Nike. With these ballet shoes, a 10 was way too big. They should fit LIKE A GLOVE, with room to stretch. So I re-ordered a 9.5 and those are fine.Remember, they should be snug. They won't feel like a street shoe. Better snug than too big, as they will stretch anyway.
Ballet shoes, don't buy larger
Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2017
First, I read SO many reviews indicating to order a size or half size up. No, do not do that. I did. I read reviews and it seemed the majority said buy larger. Definitely not a good idea. My daughter wears a size 8, I ordered a size 9. They are HUGE on her, as a dancer myself you can't possibly do point in these things. Horrible. All of that aside, these are great shoes for beginning dancers. They have arch support and for toddlers that's important it helps strengthen their foot. Overall the shoe is well worth what I paid, especially considering it's a shoe and NOT a slipper. They are theatrical pink which is typical suggested. Great buy and reasonable cost.
Terrible drawstring.
Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2016
The leather and sole quality seem fine. My complaint is that the drawstring is not elastic (most are). To get a good fit, I would have to tighten, tie, then untie and loosen to take off her foot. Tightening and loosening are not easy as the material does not slide easily. With and elastic drawstring, you can get a good fit, tie off, then clip leaving just enough to tuck into the shoe (visible bows are a no-no), and the child can slip them on and off without untying. Returning to purchase a pair with elastic drawstring.
Great for using as houseshoes!

These were just what I wanted, but I made the mistake of ordering the wrong size, and they were too wide. But I fixed the problem (more or less) by putting in insoles. I am just buying them to use as houseshoes anyway. I'm no dancer or anything. I just think they're comfortable and pretty.

These appear microscopic when you first take them out of the box. They seemed so small at first that I was going to return them. Compared to my child's tennis shoes the slippers seemed 3/4 of their size! However, my husband urged me just to try them and they ended up fitting well. My three year old wears a size 8 and I ordered an 8.5.
Sizing is off, way too large!
Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2018
The sizing is off. I looked up sizing instructions from the seller website, Discount Dance, and they said to go up 2 sizes from kids to womens size and then go down by 1.5. My 2 daughters wear size 7 and 5 in kids so I ordered 7.5 and 5.5 in these women's ballet shoes. They were too big. They are also too wide even though they are the "M" width. I am going to return the 7.5 and giving the 5.5 to my oldest and it is still too big.
Too wide
Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2018
I donât have any experience buying ballet or dance gear Iâm just beginning with my 5 year old. These fit her foot perfectly true to size in length but they are very wide. She has a normal width foot and they just look awkward how wide of a gap they have on the side. Fine for dress up but I wouldnât send her to class in them.
