Compared to Jive and Jo Jo

Not for what I needed. I tried the Jive, Jodie, and Jo Jo. The Jive was very small and good enough if you just want to carry phone, money, and passport. Maybe a candy bar too. :) The Jodie was a bit larger but did not like the side pocket. The Jo Jo was large enough to carry 4 passports, wallet, phone, tissues, and a few snacks for 2 kids. The outer most pocket was large enough to hold a Pixel 2 (the smaller of the current smartphones). The inner zipper had no problem with 4 passports which was key in making sure they stayed secure as I look in and out of my purse looking for stuff for the kids. The large pocket was probably large enough to stuff a 7" tablet though I never did. The one complaint I had with this bag is the strap. I love the Jive strap - soft smooth woven fabric. The strap for the Jodie was like luggage strap and too thin - think like backpack bottom straps. The strap for the Jo Jo was like luggage strap width but similar to backpack style so the edges are rough, rough enough to snag the more delicate shirts. So not so happy about that. They should have just used the same strap as the Jive and it would have been perfect.

Does not easily fit a regular (ten inch) iPad

I bought this bag to replace the smaller and very popular Jive bag that I’ve used for travel for years. I like the Jive but it doesn’t hold what a 50-year old woman needs for minimal use: two sets of eyeglasses and a current iPhone. I can shove those into my Jive, barely, but it’s awkward and unnattractive to boot. I’ve been making do but recently traveled to Italy and decided it was time to switch. The Jodie is minimal inside like the Jive; just one interior pocket. There is another pocket cleverly located on the side of the bag, with a very subtle zipper; anything you carry in it won’t be obvious. It was great for my passport; easy for me to access without thinking someone might pickpocket it in a crowded space. The bag easily carried my iPhone (with heavy case); sunglasses and case; reading glasses and case; metal hotel keys; a bit of sunscreen; etc. You could get more into it; I carry as little as possible.Unfortunately, my iPad did not easily fit in and that was with no cover on it, just the naked device. Smaller devices will easily fit, my Kindle went in with no issues. I could have squeezed it in but knew I’d be fumbling around it all the time and that’s the exact thing I want to avoid when traveling. This was a bummer for active travel, as I use my iPad constantly. It wasn’t a deal breaker for me, however; I travel with a very small roller so the iPad stays there. The heavy canvas construction will hold up to time and stress. The strap is easy to adjust and fairly narrow. This is a plus for me, as the wider Jive strap pulls me down; others will miss the security of the Jive strap. YMMV. The result is a less utilitarian looking bag. I’m happy enough with the look that I’m using it on a day-to-day basis; my Jive was only ever for travel and day trips.A well made bag that will last, just might not accomodate your tablet.

Love the bag. Not too big, not too small. The only thing I would change is the strap. I like a thicker strap and my other Dakine bags have a thicker strap but I've grown used to it now. Good quality, as always!

Sent back due to strap...

Wanted to like this bag, loved the pattern but the strap was not what I expected. I have two Dakine Jive bags, both have a wide, soft, cotton type strap. This strap was too thin and a different material, sort of poly scratchy like. Sadly this bag is being returned.

Showing signs of wear

I have enjoyed carrying this purse daily for the past month. It is an adequate size to carry my usual items including an e-reader. The fabric is now showing signs of wear with some of the fibers fraying. My previous Dakine purse did not show signs of wear for approximately 2 years of daily use. The strap on this model is narrow and occasionally more uncomfortable than the wider strap on my previous Dakine purse.

I love this bag! This is the 3rd Dakine bag I’ve owned, but my first of this style. I love how lightweight it is and still holds everything I need. It does have an inside pocket not mentioned in the description, which was a plus. Also do t mind the skinny strap. I would definitely buy it again.

I was looking for a purse that wasn't too small or too large.. This was perfect for me. Its spacious on the inside and fits my wallet and phone just fine. The side pocket is roomy and fits some small items. It's comfortable to carry and still lays fairly flat. Great price and I would purchase this brand again.

The colors are exactly as I'd hoped (and beautiful), there was one more zipper compartment than I'd even expected, and the size is perfect. This purse is a steal!
