You'll either love them or hate them

I've looked far and wide for the perfect black suede pump, and this is it - or so I thought. It looks like a regular pump at first glance, with the classic pump styling, a heel that is not too low and not too high. High quality suede leather upper with meticulous attention to detail, with no visible stitching or glue. The sole, non-slip rubber that provides traction. Inside, a deeply padded footbed with arch support, fabric lining and a firm suede heel - all known as "Adiprene" technology by adidas. Now the bad part. The fit is a little off, running about half a size larger. The weight - almost 10 oz, the only clue that this shoe is no ordinary shoe - it hides a 1/2 inch platform. And there's the rub - they are absolutely comfortable as long as you're just standing. But as soon as you try to walk in them, the heel slips off. The platform just doesn't give the sole any flexibility. It will flex if you apply some pressure so with wear I assume this will be less of an issue.I am a true size 9 and the size 8.5 fit well. I'll try the rubber insert solution another reviewer suggested. I'm hoping it will work. It has for others so I'm crossing my fingers. But do this only if it's deeply discounted - I wouldn't risk it with the shoes at retail price.
Excellent everyday pump, but pebbled leather finish no good

Revised review: This is my second pair of these shoes--my first pair was in excellent shape after 2 years of regular wear, but I lost them. If you are between sizes, order down. They do stretch a little, and are plenty wide. I can teach all day in them without discomfort. I once walked a mile in them too. They are not the most stylish shoes, but they are attractive and not at all frumpy. They have a hidden platform that makes the heel effectively shorter in its effect. If you are looking for an everyday practical and pretty black pump, these are a great choice. I have three other pairs of Rockport shoes, and I love them too. TWO drawbacks--1) definitely wear some kind of sock. My feet and the shoes tend to get a little stinky. 2) THIS FINISH--PEBBLED LEATHER--is not good. The finish almost immediately got very scuffed and the toe is peeling...the other pair I had was patent leather, I think, and held up beautifully
Fit?

I like the looks and cushioning of this classic pump. The problem is with the fit. I suppose that is one of downfalls of online shoe shopping. I usually wear a 9-9.5 wide, but, based on the reviews, sized down to an 8.5 wide. Too small! I felt like Cinderella's ugly stepsister trying to squeeze my foot into the 8.5 wide shoes. I returned for a size 9 wide. They are too large and slip up and down on my heels. Unfortunately, It took wearing them to discover the problem and now they are ineligible to be returned. I bought heel inserts and will see if that helps. Best to stick with shoes I've actually tried on rather than ordering online. Like the shoe--want it to work, so buying heel inserts.
Love these shoes

These are my first pair of Rockport pumps and they fit great. I have a wide forefoot and narrow heel and these fit perfectly. I've not been able to wear heels this high in forever (usually 1.5" to 1.75" high at most) but these are super comfy and allow me to wear unabashedly dressy/sexy shoes when the occasion calls for it. I am usually a 6.5W or WW and the Rockport wides fit as expected. I bought the black pair after this nude pair and they fit the same (yay for quality control!). I'm gonna keep an eye out for Rockport pumps from now on.
Perfect Pumps for Work

This is my second pair of Rockport Seven to 7 pumps. I get compliments on them all the time. This is the perfect work shoe. Heel isn't too high or too low. They are well made and hold up well to frequent wear, even on nasty weather days. My foot is more narrow at the heel than the toe. I buy them in wide width and then use one of those heel pads on the back. They fit perfectly right out of the box that way - no "breaking in" period needed. These are great shoes and well worth the price when you consider how much wear you will get out of them.
Lovely and comfortable heels--you won't believe how easy they are to wear all day long.

For a size 8, I found these to be a bit large; I had to add a couple of heel guards (one on top of another) to keep them from slipping off my heels. I normally wear 8 1/2 W but ordered the 8 W given other reviews. The rest of the shoe is perfect. These are incredibly comfortable, despite the heel height. I wear them all day at the office, much of the time sitting but still my feet and legs feel great, and I'm in my 50s so have given up on a lot of heels. I don't come home wanting to kick them off as I sometimes do with other shoes. They are a nice heavy leather that you can see and feel.
Good

Rockport is my good to go shoes. I always chose this brand because of quality and comfort. Regularly I have a 8.5 to 9 because of my medium to wide feet. In Rockport I' am either 8 or 7.5 wide and Rockport always never fails to deliver good quality and looking shoes. This time I have to give four stars for this shoes because there is no grip at the back side. My back foot comes out every time I make steps. I might have problem in this kind of pump but I wont give up searching and waiting for new Rockport pumps. I am picky when it comes to shoes but once I found the best product I stick to it.
Well Made and Beautiful
Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2015
I have a "beefy" foot meaning I wear a size 11 shoe, high instep with large ankles, medium width. These shoes were so lovely and I loved the way they looked on my feet. However, with each step my heel kept popping out of the shoe. I thought they were true to size. I tried heel grips but they did not work and took up room in the shoe that I needed. Therefore, regretfully, I returned these. But they are a beautiful, substantial shoe and very, very comfortable. Also, I thought the heel was a little higher than I thought it would be but that is probably because I ordered a size 11 and the heel height needs to be in proportion to the shoe, and therefore a higher heel.

Its too large in the heel. Otherwise awesome pump but thought they were higher than 2 1/2 inch heel. Thought they were 3 inch heel.

review from my wife:very comfortable, fit is similar to the total motion line, sensible heel not too high and the hidden platform makes it even more comfortable

Nice looking pair of shoes. Can be worn as causal or more dressy functions. The built in platform is one that adds some height without being obvious like some platform shoes are. Comfortable to wear.

These are heels i can work in all day or dance in all night. They look and feel great! Thank goodness for wide sizing. Many brands don't bother.

I tried it on and it is comfortable. You do need to put a heel grip to keep your feet in. I have not wear the shoes for a full day yet. This will be my office shoes this winter.
