Success after a long hunt for the elusive perfect winter coat!

Summery

I ordered and returned 11 mid-length down coats from stores like Lands' End, Eddie Bauer, and L.L. Bean this fall before FINALLY finding this Columbia jacket. Lands' End is my normal go-to for quality winter coats in petite sizes, but I just wasn't pleased with any of their options this year. L.L. Bean has some great coats, but the lack of petite sizes meant the sleeves were too long and none of the styles could accommodate a cuff. I can get by with rolling/cuffing sleeves in most items, but that doesn't usually work in a down coat.PROS*gorgeous color (I got Nordic Green)*nice mid-range weight -- warm but not terribly bulky; packable*great length -- covers your assets, but looks streamlined*double-ended main zipper allows adjustments such that you can wear while driving/seated*thumb-hole cuffs: soft and stretchy, lightweight enough to tuck back into sleeves easily or wear under gloves, subtle gray color*soft fleece hood lining (gray) and pockets lining*unexpectedly cuff-able! 1.75 in. of flexibility in sleeve length without compromising the thumb-hole inner cuffs*when fully zipped, the neck sits perfectly under my chin rather than awkwardly half-covering my face and getting makeup all over itself like many other coatsPOTENTIAL CONS (minor -- I'm being super picky)*unexpectedly bright metallic liner looks like foil (but is soft) -- this was more of a surprise to me than an ongoing complaint as you don't really see the liner when its zipped and very little even when unzipped due to its close fit*main front zipper quality is functional, but I would have liked a more refined finish to the pulls*I would have preferred both snaps and zipper or snaps only*hood is not adjustable (not much of a CON for me because I don't use the hood daily and the fit is so good I don't need adjustment)So...this is a great all-around coat and an absolute treasure if you have short arms!

Cozy, Comfortable, and Stylish

I've had this coat all winter and it has been nothing short of amazing. I really think it adapts to your temperature because I can wear it when it's 45 or 0 and it still works which is what you need in the Midwest. The diagonal pattern is more slimming than a lot of other patterns and I just love how comfortable it is. The sleeves with the arm holes are also nice for those gusty, windy days. The only negative about this coat is I would say that the hood is quite big so sometimes if I put it up, it will fall down but I've fixed that by adding ear muffs. This isn't a coat you would want to wear in anything below 0 however since it is more of a lightweight winter coat.

I was leery on whether this would be warm enough because I have always worn heavy thick coats, but this is amazingly warm. I live in Michigan and it gets very cold and snowy. I love this coat!

I love love love this coat. I wore it in Chicago when it was -10 before windchill and it kept me pretty warm. It’s very light and easy to move in.

I love this jacket... its light as air, the fleece at the collar and inside the hood is great, my hands slide right into the optional thumb hole and while I don't like that in shirts I've had, its very comfortable to unnoticeable in this coat. The lower and upper zipper are useful.. really everything about it makes me happy. It hasn't been cold enough to comment on that. I am 5'5", and a not curvy 125lbs. The small is just right.. looking just like the listing picture.. tapered, nothing binding.. and the lightness adds to the roomy feel. Happy happy happy... just wish Columbia made gloves that looked good with it.

The jacket itself was fine. I ordered Small

The jacket itself was fine. I ordered Small. I am 5'8 and currently 150 lbs and the jacket had a very fitted look. However, it arrived with a strong women's perfume scent and had two noticeable grayish stains (2-3 by 4 inches) by the front pockets. The return was not a problem. I am expecting another one to arrive in a few days.

Hi! The lower part of the left arm is completely twisted. Absolutely uncomfotable and imposible to wear.... That's the main problem ... It doesn't have the usual Columbia tags as well .. that's not common, is it? What shall I do know? Thanks

I've been scoping out the perfect mid-length black "puffy" jacket for a few months now and I thought this Columbia version would be the winner. Overall, when I tried it on, it fit my criteria - warm, flexible, flattering. However, two features made me say, "it's going back." First, the cuffs were a nice touch, but, the fabric wasn't what I expected - it's a flimsy, thin nylon that I expect to rip or snap immediately and were not warm at all. And, second, the fabric in the pockets don't have a nice soft, fleece-y feel, but, more of a scratchy, snag-your-dry-skin feel - yikes! If the choices for those two fabrics had been more thoughtfully considered, this would have been a five-star keeper!

I love this updated one I still have my last one from 4 winters ago and just ordered the 'Lake' columbia also in a different colour.I love that it's thinner than most down coats so not as bulky but still warm enough for our Vancouver Island,BC winters.

Love this jacket. Long line is very slimming. Looks just as good with Jeans and Chelsea boots as it does with joggers and Sorels

The jacket itself is a great jacket, kept me warm and toasty in the winter in japan, but the cuff tore within two days of wearing it, which put me off greatly. The jacket was still within the 1 month returns period, so when I came back, I got in touch with the amazon customer care. They told me that without the original tags the product could not be replaced or exchanged. I had obviously not kept the original tags because I had not expected such an issue to come up. I got in touch by email directly with Columbia customer care, and with some push from me, they have replaced the product, without the original tags, saying that their products go though heavy testing for harsh conditions, and that the product I received must have been a defective product and they were sorry that i received it. I’m glad they took responsibility for it, because after paying so much money for a jacket, it was indeed a disappointment that it tore so quickly. Thank you Columbia, for your great service.

I had to return this item because the XL was too snug, however, the return options did not allow an exchange to plus size nor did it have the option to choose too small as a reason for the return. It is charging $10.40 for the return even as a prime customer!

1. The size runs a way too small. The Large size is like Medium.2. The price tag on the coat says 140$.3. The quality of the coat is superb.

Though in terms of maintaining body temperature it is impeccable, the only flaw I came across is quality of thread used in binding jacket. Threads are developing lint, which make the jacket look weird. Good quality of thread should have been used, only then it would be cost effective

Beautiful jacket, tailor in a way to make you look slim. The jacket is very thin so it’s more suitable for not a harsh climate. If you want to layer over a thick hoodie, I recommend sizing up.

La mejor chamarra! Además de estética, te mantiene súper calientita. La talla es correcta, ni muy entallada ni muy amplia.

I did love this jacket but after less than a month the double zipper won't undo at the bottom of jacket so I have to step in and out of it to wear it. Naturally the problem started AFTER the Amazon return window. I would gladly exchange for another.

So glad I ordered it! I live in NS and wore it on one of the coldest days so far this winter and was more so cozy! Went into the store and wasn’t too hot or weighed down like I am when I wear my Canada Goose. Would definitely recommend buying this coat to anyone questioning whether to do so!

I bought this jacket to replace an older similar model. Love the length and light weight but warmth of it.Not impressed that it came without tags and smelling like perfume when I payed full price. Someone else must have given it a trial run first. Keeping it because it seems to be the last one available.
