and I'm so glad I went with the small instead of the medium

Just got this in the mail, and I'm so glad I went with the small instead of the medium. It fits very well over a thick sweater... it isn't a coat, so I really don't foresee wanting to layer more than that. If you're planning on wearing a hoodie or several layers, size up. I'm 5’4”, 135lbs, 34B, and wear a 4/6. The small is great with plenty of room to move. The red hibiscus is gorgeous... a nice, bright, faintly pink/coral tinged red. The hood and waist are easily adjusted with the elastic cords. Just got it, so I haven't had a chance to test the waterproofing. Pics included... sorry for the bathroom selfies. :)Update: Have worn this in several soaking rains... kept me dry! It's been washed a ton, and still looks as good as new two years later. Make sure to zip it when you wash because the velcro will stick to the liner!

Decent product, but returning it...

I bought this jacket for our cruise to Alaska. I liked it but will ultimately return it. For reference I am 5'4", 270 lbs and usually wear a size 22/24, I bought a size 3x.Pros:-The fabric feels thick and of good quality; it would likely hold up well in the rain.-The color was very cute and true to the on screen color!-The sleeves fit well (a bit longer than my wrist but not too long) and I liked the Velcro to tighten them if necessary.Cons:-It fits pretty snug around my hips. I have a pretty big booty so that doesn't help, but a little more room would be nice.-The hood and collar are a very weird construction and was the main reason I'll be returning. The collar comes up past my mouth and almost covers my nose. My husband said I looked like Kenny from Southpark. The hood was also very "short". I would likely cover my hair, but my face would get wet.-The zipper was a pain, and the Velcro would constantly catch.- The interior mesh was itchy, and would likely be uncomfortable if you were wearing a short sleeve underneath.

I browsed through the reviews to decide what size jacket to get, then I found a reviewer with the same height and similar weight like me posted a photo of themselves in a medium. So I got myself a medium in black.I'm 5'2", 102lbs, and 34B. I bought a medium to go along with the pair of Colombia's Storm Surge rain pants (x-small) for when the rain comes in Southern California. I enjoy how roomy and light it is, and I can wear several layers underneath when the weather demands it. When it rains, the water rolls straight off of it and keeps me dry.The sleeves have adjustable Velcro cuffs, and it goes pass just the tip of my fingers. The mesh-lined jacket itself almost covers my entire butt, but my rain pants can take care of the rest. The storm hood and waist can be easily adjusted with the elastic cords found there. I often wear a cap whenever I go out, and the hood covers it except for the very edge of the bill/visor, so I often find it damp/wet, but not a big deal. The main front zipper has a flap that can be secured with Velcro to keep the water out. The two pockets has flaps and zippers as well, and the insides are mesh-lined and are big enough to fit an entire 16.9 fl oz water bottle, or my iPhone 6 Plus with its Otter Box Defender case on with some room to spare.I highly recommend it for any kind of rain except for really heavy rain like a monsoon.Pics included, and sorry for the blurred out face and bathroom...

I bought this jacket from a sporting goods store about a month ago. I went back to purchase another for my daughter but they were sold out. Being that I do most of my shopping on Amazon, I found it here. I figured something was going to be different based on the price. It does not fit the same at all. I purchased a Small. My store purchased jacket measures 26 inches. This jacket measures 25. It is not as contoured to the waist either. I find it a bit more bulky. The inside mesh is different. It is much louder/crunchier sounding. I have only worn the other rain jacket a few times. That is not enough times to reduce the noisy crunch. The tags are different. The model number is RL2436, which is listed on both jackets but this jacket has additional numbers added to it.The top 2 pictures are of my store purchased Columbia. The bottom 2 pictures are of my Amazon Columbia.

At first I bought a large (I am 5" 6', 165 lbs). I usually wear between a medium and a large, and I saw some reviews recommending to order a size up. I received the large very quickly, but it was way too big, so I returned it and purchased a medium. The medium came within just a few days of ordering! It fits perfectly, and does the job--a perfect windbreaker and rain jacket! I love Columbia--great quality and great service!

This jacket is a great value. I bought it specifically for Iceland as an outer shell and it surpassed my expectations. It was both wind and waterproof. The wind proof came in handy as there were 30 mph winds with gusts up to 70 mph. I brought 3 rain jackets with me and this one was my favorite since it's wind and water proof she dried very quickly. The red is also a flattering and bright color. For reference I am 5'3 145 pounds and used a small. In my attached images I was able to wear a fleece jacket underneath for warmth.

Just received today via addresspal to Ireland. Where to start - I ordered 3x based on 1st review on the page since lady there ordered 3x and she has the same height and weight. Well packed, light, fully mesh lined inside. The downside - I ordered this jacket based on my research and I was led to believe that the jacket has underarm vents. Imagine my disappointment that was not the case. The fit of the jacket - larger, loose, the length is great, just under my bottom so it covers my critical area - belly. However, I believe, I would be fine even with 2x as it is my size. I am UK 22-24. I still haven't decided if I'll return it and order a different style or not. Great material, the hood is great with an extra shield so it covers my cap. Perfect for Irish weather . I haven't tested the jacket in the rain so we'll see how it hold up. Update will follow along with pictures

I was really concerned about the sizing between getting a Small or a Medium. In the end, based on other reviews, I got a Medium and am thrilled! Am 5’8, 140lbs, athletic build with a chest. It’s perfect as is but will also comfortably fit a sweater underneath for cooler days. Zipper might be on the cheap side, but they all seem to come that these days. I wasn’t looking for a super form fitting rain jacket, but I also wasn’t looking to resemble a paper bag!! I succeeded with this purchase!

Ordered both the Columbia and North-Face rain jackets. I love the Columbia because it fits a bit bigger no problems adding a sweater/ hoodie underneath for an extra layer. It’s a bit longer than the north face which is great for me as I’m 5’9 and most medium sized clothes are short and boxy instead of long and lean. Over all the Columbia is more comfortable but the North Face has a neck layer which keeps you warmer than the Columbia. Happy with both.

Very nice jacket. I bought it to wear on a river rafting trip and it definitely kept me dry. There is a light mesh lining which I really like because it helps breathability. But the lining does make it a tad bulkier, in case you are looking for a small packable. But it still can roll into a smallish ball. Good hood and bottom sinch and I like that the back is a bit longer for better coverage. I am am on the larger side of medium and I bought a medium. It fits great. I cannot put a heavy under layer tho. It is a bit fitted shape, which I like. Love the berry colour, (Can’t rwmember what they call it), it is somewhat muted but colourful. I do recommend this jacket.

Looked long and hard for a lightweight, waterproof jacket and this is perfect. Nice and long, I'm 5'8" and it sits at my upper thighs, arms are long enough too. Fits true to size, large enough to wear over light sweater if needed. Has a light mesh lining so the fabric does not stick to you like other jackets I tried.

I purchased this jacket for travel in the west coast. I wanted a compact, light jacket that didn't take up a lot of room and provided waterproof coverage for rainy days. This jacket was perfect on both counts! I am very pleased with the quality of this product.

I usually wear a 2X, but I have found with Columbia that in coats I need to go up a size. It's a lighter version than I was initially looking to replace, but I have decided to keep it because I will still get good use out of it for warmer rainy or windy day. Can't beat the quality of Columbia.

I'm a big girl (235 lbs) and Columbia jackets normally fit very small for me so based on sizing chart and other reviews, I went with a 3X. It's very large though, even when layered with another jacket underneath. I wouldn't mind it a little big, but it is wider at the bottom so it has an unflattering tent-like shape for those of us who aren't blessed with a big booty. I will probably return for 2X, or even 1X.

This jacket was perfect for a recent trip to BC. We had a few days with a lot of rain, and this jacket kept me dry and comfortable. It folds up nice and small too. I would say that it fits slightly on the small side. I'd go up a size if you want a bit of room. I went up a size, and was glad that I did. I was able to fit a sweatshirt underneath without it being too tight.

I've tested the impermeability of it and it works great. It's a bit on the small side compare to Plus size stores. So if you wear a 1X in a store like Penningtons, you should take a 2X.
