Great Coat for Home or Travel

I live in Wisconsin. I bought the coat prior to a trip that included Chicago, Minneapolis, and Amsterdam. One coat had to handle all three places. This one was absolutely perfect! Chicago was cold, Amsterdam was cool and overcast, with rain thrown into the mix on our last day, and Minneapolis was downright frigid— meaning never above zero and as low as 19 below. I was comfortable in all three places, as well as at home since I returned. Another advantage is that the coat stuffed easily into the overhead compartment on the airplane without taking up much space. A nice feature is that it has a zipper pocket on the left chest that fits my iPhone 8 Plus. I am particularly pleased because I returned two or three disappointing coats before I finally got this one. It was definitely worth waiting for.

Bought this coat to wear in winter Carnival in Quebec. Thought I wanted a Canadian Goose... But too expensive... We faced Sub zero temps (C) my body stayed warm whole time! The best feature is the hood... We live in Buffalo and the hood has additional snaps to keep wind and cold out...it's so comfortable I never want to take it off. Best coat I've ever purchased...

Wind-proof and warm enough for WI

I am 5'7", 135lbs, and originally ordered a small, despite other reviews. It fit well, except that it was too tight across the chest (an unusual problem for a small-chested lady), and after a while it became hard to take a deep breath. Returned for a medium, which fits much better.Pros:Wind-proofWarm (it was 9 degrees and windy here in WI yesterday, and I was comfortable, if not toasty, running errands).Sleeves are long enough (!!!)Sleeve cuff and pockets are very soft.Hood is generous, and stays up. Haven't had problems with the snaps yet.Haven't had problems with feathers poking through yet.Cons:Still a bit tight across the chest/shoulders. I feel restricted when reaching for anything.Pockets could be deeper. My wrists stick out if I extend my fingers.Another thing I noticed is that this coat is warm except when leaning up against anything outside/in a cold car. Unlike other down coats, which provide an insulated 'cushion' (can lie on a snow-covered ground and not feel the cold seep through), the lack of bulk on this coat (a plus!) doesn't provide that same cushion.Overall, it's my new go-to winter coat, and I am satisfied with it.

Beautiful, Warm Coat.

I looked at many other brands including the north face, and this coat looks higher quality than any of them. I wear a size 12 in a dress and the large fits perfectly, with plenty of room for layering. Doesn't look puffy. I love it!

Not as expected

Coat looks good, but the hood is a problem.it would work better with a zipper to take it offif desired. Generally I don't take my hoods off my coat.If it had two more buttonsor snaps at the front to hold the nice furry bit in placewhen you're not wearing the hood over your head would improvethis coat also, the hood collar was not well designed. Ifyou hang the coat up by the hood, which i like to do, thewhole thing comes right off. I don't love this coat. For size, it runs small in the arms midriff, a belt would be nice. The fabric is wonderful inside, but the outside is a bit rough andnoisy when you move your arms. The finish at the wrist isvery basic. Some might consider that a flaw.

Not as warm

Bought the coat after reading a magazine article which described it as one of the top warmest. The ticket labels indicated it can tolerate -30f temperatures, however I put the coat thru the test wearing it during the recent frigid cold wave in NY! It didn’t work as expected. I’ve already contacted Eddie Bauer not sure what they could do, though

This coat is so much prettier (and greener) than the picture. It looks brownish green on my screen, but in person it does not have the brownish color. I prefer it, personally. Hopefully you can see the true color in the picture.I bought a bunch of down coats and this is the one I am keeping because of several features I didn’t find in others in a similar style.First, it can zip up from the bottom which is crucial in a longer coat if you are sitting down. The pockets are fleece lined and actually placed where it is comfortable to put my handsIt was also less expensive than the other ones that I liked that were similar. The down is certified to be humanely collected which is VERY important to me. I avoided down for a long time over concerns about animal treatment, but I have not found any of the poly filled coats to be sufficient for the winters in Indiana without being too heavy and thick and hot for normal winter days. I want a coat I can wear when it’s 30 degrees AND -30 degrees. As far as sizing- I got the large and it is just right. I want it fitted and not looking like a big lumpy mess. I can wear a long sleeved shirt under it, but it would be tight across the chest and arms if I wore something really bulky. However, the cost is SO WARM, I can’t imagine needing to do that, plus I will probably lose about 10 pounds over the next couple of months so it is the right size for me. I wear a 12 in bottoms and a medium in tops usually. I am 5’7” and about 158 pounds. I would say that it runs a smaller than expected. If you want it loose, definitely size up. It feels more like in between a large and a medium to me as compared to other coats. Thankfully, that is actually perfect for me.

I'm glad I did because if I'm wearing a heavy sweater

I'm into this coat! I am 5'5, about 165lbs and I got a large. I'm glad I did because if I'm wearing a heavy sweater, it's hard to not zip my sweater into the zipper. Got to be careful. But I think if I got an XL, it might be too much? I'm happy with the large. The pockets are SUPER SOFT inside. Love the zipper pockets. Perfect for my keys on one side and phone in the other. The inside of the sleeves are super soft too. It feels luxurious. Love it!
