We have a winner!

Whoever decided to put side zips on this thing is a flippin' genius! The double zipper already had it pulling ahead of several other jackets I looked at, but the side zips make this even more versatile, especially for those of us well-endowed in the hiply region.I haven't worn it in the rain yet, so I can't speak to how waterproof it is, but the quality feels solid while still being lightweight.I also really like the feel of the fabric. It does not feel like you're wearing a trash bag or a super-swishy parachute. The sleeves are a bit long and baggy, but I'll live with it.I'm 5'5" and 160#. I got a large and think I almost could get away with a medium, considering the zipper options, but I like that there's plenty of room to layer underneath - a must in my climate.

REASONABLE FIT WITH WONDERFUL TWO WAY ZIPPER

A. Halter

Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2019

I have another rain jacket that finally wore out although the quality and bright cherry red color was terrific. I bought this Outdoor Research rain/wind jacket because of the two-way zipper, so when I sit down while hiking or stopping to rest, I can unzip the bottom of the jacket and it doesn't bunch up like all the jackets with one-way zippers do. It was rated the best of the light rain jackets by an outdoor research report. It is very light weight. There is no liner of any kind, as was the situation with my "higher cost/quality" jacket, so you do have rubber next to you, but it does have underarm opening areas if things get too steamy. I will be carrying this with me for quick rain storms, and just as a lighter outer shell to protect me from wind bursts. I wouldn't recommend in high humidity areas as a general light weight jacket. But if you are tired of all your jackets, bunching upward when you keep it on while sitting, this is great.I preferred the color of that red jacket, but this one is ok, but does not have the cherry red energy that I like.

Pockets are shallow

Love this coat. Used it as a shell for skiing, hiking, and for those rainy days. The side/armpit zips are amazing. My only complaint is that the pockets are kind of shallow.

Kept me dry in downpour

I purchased this jacket to replace one that had lost waterproofness. I bike commute or walk only and this jacket has kept me dry. I was a little worried about the fit being tight on my hips but the fit is good and I can wear an insulating top underneath. I am 5'6", 135lb and ordered a medium. I'm pleased I got the last medium Ruby jacket because I wanted a rain jacket that is visible to drivers that isn't neon yellow.

My wife loves the jacket. We did need to send it back for a medium (she is a small in all of her other tops) and it fits well.

Was just what my wife wanted with 1 exception, hips are very narrow but the zippers allowed adjustment.
